Preservice teachers are enrolled in a variety of ITE Programs across South Australia and must liaise with their ITE provider in how to best conclude their specific program. Professional Experience placements are one part of such programs and may have been accredited based yet not limited to, the following criteria:

  • PEx must occur in a registered school, appropriate to their enrolled program.
  • PEx must occur free of employment pressure.
  • Appropriate supervisory and mentoring arrangements will be in place for the defined placement period, to professionally support preservice teachers and ensure their wellbeing.
  • Clearly defined avenues are established by the ITE providers for preservice teachers to access support in their studies, as well as the schools and communities in which they are currently working.
  • The PEx timing occurs at the correct stage of their program, as accredited under Standard 5.
  • The possibility of delayed graduation from their enrolled ITE program, if they are unable to fulfil the requirements for their enrolled program.

If you are a preservice teacher, the ITE Provider (University / College) will guide you through this process.

Employers are encouraged to work with providers to work towards solutions that uphold the accreditation process.
