The Teachers Registration Board of South Australia acknowledges the significant work that has been undertaken between ITE provider’s and employers/schools to ensure that all professional experience placements are suitable under the ITE provider’s accredited program(s).

Considering the need to ensure preservice teachers meet all requirements of their accredited ITE programs (especially where they are also SAT holders), namely:

  • Binding arrangements for professional experience placements must exist between ITE providers and the school/employer where placement occurs. We acknowledge that to fulfil all requirements around thier final placement, this requires careful and open conversations between ITE providers and employers, to ensure that a preservice teacher can graduate demonstrating all requirements of the accredited ITE program.
  • ITE Providers must submit a summary report the number of PEx/SAT, submitted through this online form twice a year, in May and November respectively. SAT PEx  Reporting Form 2024

The intent of the Board is not to exempt individual preservice teachers from components of their accredited course, but to ensure ITE provider compliance with accredited programs. Accordingly, it is not the role of the Board to examine each situation where deviation from requirements is sought, but to set and review benchmarks for ensuring overall compliance, even where there are teacher shortages.

National PEx guidelines will be released in late 2024.
