The Teachers Registration Board of South Australia acknowledges the significant work that has been undertaken between employers/schools and ITE providers to ensure that all professional experience placements are ones suitable under the provider’s accredited program(s).

When employers are considering the need to employ and support preservice teachers that hold a SAT, they must be mindful that the arrangement meets all requirements of the accredited ITE program(s), namely:

• Binding arrangements for final professional placements must exist between ITE providers and the school/employer where placement occurs. We acknowledge that to fulfil all requirements around this final placement, this requires careful and open conversations between the employer group/employers and the ITE providers, to ensure that a preservice teacher can graduate demonstrating all requirements of the accredited ITE program.

The Board requires all employers and ITE providers to work together to support preservice teachers and to fulfill accreditation obligations.
